Combining a new wideband, low-noise preamplifier and a heavyweight power amplifier in one chassis, this elegant single box design is big brother to the highly regarded MI120 integrated amp and offers expanded functionality with a much higher level of power and musical performance.

As with all Myryad products, the distinctive industrial design for the MI240 was provided by Cambridge Design. The MI240’s brushed aluminium fascia integrates a full height window housing its function display with Myryad’s distinctive central volume control, the whole forming a perfect match with all other M-Series components.

PREAMP

The all new preamplifier features a digitally driven, soft detent, rotary volume control calibrated in 0.5 dB steps. The precise volume setting and selected input are shown on the blue front panel display. Within the preamplifier, the software also allows users to name their inputs (same as the MDP500 Home Cinema processor) and provides other functions such as left / right balance and input level trims.

The eight line inputs (with provision for two tape recorders) have extra wide bandwidth (-1dB at 96kHz), suitable for SACD or DVD-A and include an even higher performance ‘Line Direct’ input with a shortened signal path for the main signal source. Audiophile grade moving-coil or moving-magnet phono modules are an option.

REMOTE & SMART MY-LINK

The MI240 is fully remote controllable but is equally usable from the front panel. Myryad’s Smart My-Link digital communications bus offers additional functionality when used with other Myryad products and is an easy interface to multi-room systems.

POWER AMP

The internal power amplifier is based closely on the MA240, a much more powerful and sophisticated design than the smaller 120 series. The highest quality components are used throughout, including Vishay precision “bulk foil” main feedback resistors and 0.1% 15ppm precision resistors in other feedback locations. The amplifier delivers 120 watts continuous power into 8 ohms rising to 180 watts at 4 ohms. The gain is carefully matched so that an MA240 power amplifier can be driven by the pre-amplifier outputs for bi-amp applications.
